The answer to whether you are a body or a spirit or both can seem obvious to some. To others it’s less obvious. If you’re an atheist, your thought is probably centered on physical evidence. If my eyes can’t see it, if my hand can’t touch it, if I can’t hear it, it probably doesn’t exist.

To a devout Christian, the answer to whether you are a body or a spirit is centered on being both. God created a body, you’re now in that body, once you die, that body will be transformed, and you will be judged good or bad. Based on that decision by God, you’re off to either heaven or hell.

You Are Not A Body, You Are Free

But according to A Course in Miracles, the answer to the question: are you a body or a spirit is pretty straight forward. You are not a body, you are free, you are as God created you: Pure Spirit.

By that line of thinking, Freedom must be impossible as long as you perceive a body as yourself. The body is a limit. Who would seek for freedom in a body, looks for Love and Freedom where it cannot be found. The mind can be made free when it no longer sees itself as in a body, firmly tied to it and sheltered by its presence. If you believe you are a body in truth, then the mind would be vulnerable, and God would be imperfect, which cannot be. Referencing A Course in Miracles again, God holds you in His mind, as You were when you were created, and still are now, in this moment. The memory of who you are in truth may seem lost to you, but that truth is being held as your inheritance. God holds your memory for you while you imagine a body and a life apart from your creator.

How Long Will You Wait To Decide?

For many thousands of lives, too many to be remembered, you have bounced from one nightmare to another, living in scarcity, dreaming of a better future, and running from an idea that God is angry with you. None of this is true, but still, you run and hide in a life fraught with wants and wishes, when all the while God has offered you His kingdom. When the gentle kiss of God’s love rests upon your forehead, and melts down into your soul, you will remember your true self, as one with God, everlasting, completely free. Your ego will melt and with it all your guilt, anger, fear and hatred. What is left is your true self.

Find Your Truth

To know that you are loved, and to realize your true self, you must first make a decision: are you a body or spirit? Or both?

No matter what you decide at this moment, make a pact to approach everyone you encounter as a projection of your own thoughts. So, from this moment forward, you can either use your body with guilt and the ego, and go back to your old ways of living on earth; or you can choose to use your body for forgiveness and love, as an extension of God, aligning your will with God.

Eventually, we all must set aside our bodies in what we call life. When that happens, the shift for you can be conscious, or unconscious. But it is a choice. Heaven is a choice. But Heaven is not a place for a body, or judgment, or mixed emotions. I have been to Heaven, and I can tell you, you will recognize the experience. But that recognition requires you to open your mind and accept God as God, and not as you would have God be. I’ll leave you with this: You Are Loved Unconditionally.
